Our Reason for Being
Ikigai Studio is a tattoo studio in Northcliff, Johannesburg, led by Heath, a tattoo artist with over 15 years of experience.
We focus on custom tattoo work that is planned properly before it reaches the skin. Placement, scale, flow, and longevity all matter here.
The studio was built to feel calm, professional, and easy to settle into. Whether you are planning a large piece or your first tattoo, the process starts with a proper conversation.
We specialise in Japanese-inspired tattoos, black and grey work, large-scale projects, and custom designs made to suit the body.

I got my first tattoo done by Heath, and the experience was excellent. He was very accommodating—he even offered to do the tattoo on the same day I had only booked a consultation to discuss the tattoo design. He is friendly and professional, and took the time to ease me into the process. As a first-timer, I appreciated that. I’ll definitely be going back to Heath for future work.

Heath treats every detail with so much care and thought. Being in his space always makes me feel safe and well taken care of, and his work is consistently top-tier. I honestly couldn’t recommend him more for tattoos or piercings.
